Ondes Martenot in MaxMSP
Hi,
I'm really interested in trying to recreate the sound of the Ondes Martenot digitally in Max. This is just a personal project and, as a mid-level Max user, I really think it will be a great opportunity to learn Max in much greater detail.
I was just wondering if anyone knew of some resources or schematics available for the Ondes? A casual Google search has proved rather fruitless and some info on how the sound is actually generated would be my firat port of call. Obviously - a detailed schematic would be great, but failing that a description of how the sound is made would do. After that, I guess it'll be a ton of trial and error before I get something sounding pretty good :)
Any Ondes fans out there?
thanks,
G
heterodyning 2 UHFs in order to produce a distorted sinewave sounds like
shaving the yak, yet you never know what intresting new things you find out
if trying to build it in max.
You mention having done a general Google search but have you looked up just the word "Martenot" on Google Patents? There are patent apps for Martenot's instruments as well as for related things by other people with a fair amount of tech info there.
Also these might give you some ideas:

Of course the really cool part of the Ondes (to me anyway) is the diffusers, how you'd synthesize them I've got no idea...
Good luck! Cool project, I'm a big Ondes fan but not someone with the skills to build a copy / emulation of one, I'd love to see what you come up with.
I don't know if this will help you out
I am still searching , if I find more I 'll write you.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I'll give these a good look over tonight and let you know how things get on!
Thanks again,
G
