[ot] linux audio on pismo?
i've got an old pismo that i thought might be good to put linux on and explore some audio tools in that universe. has anyone done that around here? any recommended distibutions?

doesn't look like the dynebolic is PPC friendly. Ubuntu studio looks pretty cool, as does Planet CCRMA, but, again, Planet CCRMA isn't PPC friendly, and I'm not sure ubuntustudio is, either. Ubuntu is PPC friendly (though not officially supported), but I'm not sure the Studio distro is.

Ubuntu Studio (http://ubuntustudio.org/) with Pd, Ardour, Audacity...
and you feel right at home...
But a Pismo is an ideal OS 9 Machine as well...

Yes, you're right, the moment I hit send I remembered its a Intel distro
for the moment. You probably would have to compile the kernel yourself.
All the applications should run on PPC, and for just getting into it, an
audio specialised Kernel isn't really necessary, all apps should run at
least...
(I installed and tested a normal Ubuntu on an AMD laptop, and that works
basically fine with Pd/Ardour etc... Didn't get into heavy duty tasks
though...)

with the ubuntu developer (or non-"desktop") iso you can easily make your own multimedia boot CD by including some apps and libs which they had in dynebolic
"Xubuntu" is similar to ubuntu, with much lighter graphics
