Outputting from Jitter via thunderbolt to HDMI

Hi all,

I'm outputting from Jitter to a projector via HDMI, using an early 2012 Macbook Pro, so will be going from thunderbolt to HDMI.

I haven't output from Jitter to HDMI before and need to buy a cable for the show / installation that the patch is for. Before I do so, I wanted to check with you guys that I am making the right decision.

A) As I understand it's possible to output from jitter to the thunderbolt port. Yes?

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

B) Is it possible using this:

which would enable me to select thunderbolt from the drop down menu? Or does video out only allow firewire output?

Any help would be much appreciated. Andrew I looped you in on this as I've been reading much of your work and think you might have the answer!

Thanks so much for your time.

Not behind my computer right now but I've used thunderboldt HDMI for loads of Live visual shows, never had a problem with it. Also used it with the matrox triple head (thunderbolt to DVI).
It just appears as a secondary monitor.
Works like a charm !

Hey Andro. Thank you! Do you know off the top of your head if you can output via HDMI from jit.qt.videoout?

Thanks, at least I can go ahead and buy and know there's a way to make it work. Just annoying as I won't be able to try it out until I'm in the venue so want to know as much beforehand as possible!

Sure. Send your film to jit.gl.videoplane @transform_reset 2. Create an open gl context with jit.gl.render and jit.window.
Drag that window over to your beamer output( 2nd monitor) and activate full screen with jit.window.
Voila.

Andre thank you so much. The final piece to the puzzle. Much appreciated.

Thunderbolt, HDMI and other graphics connectors just appear as another display to OSX and Max. No need for jit.qt.videoout.
