Patch testers needed!
Hi
I've currently entered the final stage in creating my Bachelor project in Max/MSP, meaning that most features have been worked out and most of the patch is actually playable.
However it would be fantastic to have someone else look at it, too see how someone was wasn't poking around the internals of the patch every day would use it. It would help to flush out any bugs I haven't caught yet.
The patch, or rather collection of patches, is inspiringly named Live Environment (I _have_ to change that...), and consists of:
Master patch, controlling time, midi and audio routing, using a setup much like a standard mixer. This is currently under going som serious construction, so it's quite messy. However there is sound.
Live Sequencer is a triggered sample player with 2x 16 samples, played in sequence or parallel. Length of sample is controlled by master. This is pretty much done, and has a nice interface. Sequencer playback is controlled by the clicktrack section on Master.
SubSynth is a 4-voice subtractive synth with simple LFO capabilities. It is also at a stage where it looks nice and is useable.
Sampler is basically a granular synth build on top Sakunda's Granular2.5 patch. It can tap into a line from Master and record whatever is playing. Well, it's a sampler.
However the reason I am calling for existing Max users is that with all the time spend on making this I haven't got any time to write user guides for it, and a few of the patches are still funky in different parts.
Should you be interested the patches can be downloaded from my homepage at:
http://cocteaus.hjem.wanadoo.dk/
They will be under the Max/MSP heading and Live Environment.
1) To get them working you will need the External patches found on the same page. The parts of Granular2.5 used in the Sampler is copied into it, so no extra patches are needed.
2) MasterStrip controls the sound for everything concerning the Live Environment. So no matter what you want running you need to have that running at the same time. It shouldn't matter too much which patch you load first.
3) Play, tweak and stress the patch and let me know when and how it fails. E-mail: aisforatom@gmail.com
Thank you for your time.

Hey, I'm not sure whats going on, but I can't get any of the Live Environment working. It would be much better if there were at least some instructions on how to use it, and how to install it properly, especially if it requires extrenals and such.

You might want to refer to your objects as "abstractions" instead of
"externals", because that's the common name used for subpatchers that are
stored as separate files. Externals are Max objects. I'll have a look at
your patch probably this weekend...

Hi
I just got back from hearing John Parish (who rock!). Just thought I would share that little pearl.
Of course should there be a little introduction on how to use these patches. I am sorry I haven't provided that already. I have tried to be as concise as I can in this first readme. I've attached it to this e-mail and will post it on the web-site sometime tomorrow with a few new updates.
Thanks for the abstraction bit, though. I suspected there would be a destinction between external objects and external patches, I just had no idea what it was. I will try to change that on the website in the very near future.
Anyway. I will listen for a bit to my brand new Parish live cd before I go to bed.
Thanks for your help.

damn. for some reason I can't upload my readme.
Anyway. It's here for now:

I'll integrate it properly tomorrow.

new updates are ready. As well as the requested readme. MasterStrip and most of the effects are now working. I tested a clean load with sequencer and sub synth and it worked smoothly.
Thanks for your patience.
