Piano roll object or external yet?

k, its been about a million years and there hasnt been a good piano roll midi sequencer object for control of polyphonic synths. i dont want to use max 4 live. so is there something ive missed, is there an external out there thats finally complete? or should i just go learn how and make an external myself, considering i could have done it by now.

If you can live with a score instead of a piano roll, you might consider the MaxScore Project or the Bach Project's pianoroll & score objects. As fas as I know, both support sequencing somehow...

I can endorse rs.delos - it's actively developed, and available for Mac and PC. Not free, but also not very expensive at all (24.95 €).
      There's a free demo too.

i would pay it, if there was a version stripped down to just what i need (complete note control). it has too many features standing in the way.

Let me chime in here. What do you mean precisely by 'complete note control'? Could you explain in what sense are features standing in the way?
      Thanks, Roby

      features i need:
      - pitch/velocity and duration information
      features disturbing me:
      - user definable parameters, - user definable breakpoint functions, - MSP buffer display, - any arbitrary message.
don´t get me wrong, the extensions are great. but it would be even greater, if there was a super handy light version with only the roll/timeline and note-containers. even for full price.

@xidance ha! that quite funny saying that to mr steinmetzer. seems like you just need the graphical [pianoroll] editor of [detonate] (which so many complain about), which comes with Max! (beta in Max5, native in Max6 and Max4). other than that, all stuff mentioned in this thread does what you need, just in different ways.

You can limit quite a bit of the functionality of rs.delos using its Inspector, if that's what you're after.... Take a look at the demo!

Ok, I agree that it would be great if the whole interface would be a little bit more customizable. Some people have asked for instance for the customization of the menus. I will think about all this.
But for the moment you can just ignore everything output by rs.delos which is parameters, bpfs, buffer and messages. I think you could even customize the Inspectors by modifying the Inspector patches (in the Mac version you will find those patches inside the 'Shop Package Contents' stuff). But be cautious, don't delete anything, just hide what you don't want to see, or you will expect crashes ;-)
You can also hide the menu for now and just build your own menu outside of rs.delos. I will add a command to hide the Icons menu.
Before implementing this customization stuff, I will finish the addition of the bar/beat display. I think this something that is needed urgently.

ok that´s fine, i payed it. an interface where you could filter your options or maybe even build new (via subpatchers) would be simply fantastic. and a little function for setting loop-points visually.
it´s much about the way, and i don´t want to use 4 or the ugly fat 6 (kidding!) - and no beta. i think delos makes a lot of sense.

the [detonate] beta with piano roll works fine on my mac/max 5.1.9 as standalone.
