pictctrl, cursor triggers button even if alpha is 0.

I have custom UI relying heavily on transparent pngs for buttons (1 row), and there are a ot of overlaps between the images (png with transparency).
The transparent parts of pngs don't ignore mouse clicks, so any image underneath another, even if an image on top is transparent, doesn't allow the image underneath to receive the mouse click.
This can be fixed by turning on 'Has Image Mask', but once the image is refreshed, the transparent parts become black and the image goes into another display mode.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. Any workarounds? Can a nice drop shadow with some blur be made in jsui (mgraphics)?
