I'm new to Max and have a really strange problem that I really don't think is my doing.

When playing back a file, the sound is choppy, slowed down and dreadful. I've taken the patches right down to basics (even the ueber-simple example in the attached picture) and always receive the same issue. I've tried several .wav and .aif extension files with the same error. Running Max on clean install of Windows 7 - oh, and the files play perfectly in any media player.

Double click on the [dac~] object and check your DSP settings. If you don't know what the settings mean there is an page in the documentation called "Audio I/O" in the MSP section of the main help page which explains what everything does.
