Please update Max to remember the zoom level

As a long time user of Max (since it was being sold by Opcode Systems) but as an older (sigh) user with hi-resolution monitors for development, I find it very frustrating to have to continually change the zoom level of each patcher.

So far, I have not found any way to make that zoom level permanent (unless it's in the very latest Max9 update which I haven't downloaded yet)

If it's not there, can this please be considered for the next update. It can't be that hard to just example a global zoom preference when opening a patcher window.

(and yeah, I can imagine that one might one a different zoom level when in presentation mode :-) )

Thank you in advance.

Go to Preferences->Interface->Global Zoom Factor:

This should be persistent across launches.

Hmm, I must have missed that one --- I'll check again when I get to my studio - thank you for responding, Ben. Did that get added recently?

Quite recently. It's brand new in 9.0.5 :)

Ok, so I’m not going nuts. I was hunting everywhere for such a setting ut hadn’t pulled down the latest version yet

Thanks

So, I'm not quite sure what to make of this global zoom setting -- it definitely works (thank goodness) but when you set a global zoom to 150% (say) and you open a patcher, the patcher (which is now bigger) still displays 100%

Is this a minor buglet or are we to think of the number in a patcher as being "relative" to the global zoom factor?

hehe, he found it out.

interestingly, in live 12.2b9, the zoom factor of mfl devices is off, breaking the UIs. Must be related, right?

Guessing at which bugs are related simply by appearances is 'phylumism'!

(like 'racism' but over the whole 'phylum' of 'anthropoda' 😜🤪)

Not all insects that look similar are related! 😤

[disclaimer: i'm pretty sure they ARE related! 🥸]

have you tried opening your own templates with cutom sizes yet? it might give a clue.

I do so apologise to any offended entomologists. I won't try to worm out of this one.

It required a few load/quit cycles to get it down, but yeah, i got it back to 100%, so I can go back to doing microhouse with the Expressive Chords device again.

unless it gets uncoupled, this does mean the zoom is not a useful feature, if you use mfl, imo.
