Polybuffer/readfolder question

Hi all,

I'm trying to get my audio to load into polybuffer on start up. When using full file paths in the readfolder message it all loads up fine but I'm planning on exporting the patch as a standalone and can't figure out how to load the audio folder path relative to the patch location (i.e. just the one folder extension, rather than the full path).

The patch resides in "D:Patch1"
The audio folder is "D:Patch1Numbers22k"

I tried connecting a 'readfolder "Numbers22k"' message to the polybuffer and I got '...is not a folder' in the max window. I've also been playing around with relativepath and associated objects but have had no luck in obtaining anything other than the full file path from these objects.

Does anyone know how to set this up for a standalone patch or if it's possible at all?

Thanks

Liam

Here's a few options:

  • - use a dropfile to choose the folder

  • - use the max message

  • - include the folder in the search path (the support folder), therefore the message readfolder will find it

Hi Emmanuel,

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, if I save the folders to the search path will the folder path still be recognised when I've exported the patch as a standalone (after including the folders and relevant audio as well I assume).

Thanks again,

Liam
