The EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO des SWR offers an opening for

practical training in Sound Direction

in Freiburg.

The intention of this position is to provide the training and foundation to become a sound director and to learn about sound design, music computer science, and studio techniques. The aim is to provide qualifications for the independent direction of performances with live electonics.

Structure and content of the practical training

•    Duration: 18 months

•    Start: as soon as possible

•    The education includes 2 seminars/workshops, 8 fixed parts and 4 parts to choose which will take place in Freiburg and Baden-Baden.

•    The main focus of the practical training is the planning and realisation of concerts with live electronics. Also covered are the techniques of recording studios and of live events and the programming of live electronic applications such as Max-MSP. Other topics are sound direction and the documentation and archiving of compositions with live electronics.

Graduate studies (for example sound director, sound engineer, musicology) are requested in combination with contemporary music (for example composition).
