Prevent auto opening of recents

Hi I want to open a patch and use it on stage. I used to create an application and use that but I am finding I often need to tweak a patch in situ. So I am now thinking I should open the patch in the editor. My problem is if I was last editing lots of patches in Max they will also will be opened.

I'd rather not cycle through them and close each one before a gig. Ideally I'd double click the patch file and it just opens on it's own. I'm not sure if reopening is an OS thing or Max. I can't seem to find an option to turn it off. Any ideas?
