problem with matrox mxo mini

i saw your post at the matrox user forum questioning about the matrox mini, hope you have some experience with that thing:http://forum.matrox.com/mxo/viewtopic.php?t=1611&highlight=computer+freezes
i bought it a few days ago, also need it for capturing DVI RGB source (via hdmi), so far works well, no color problems at all in jitter...
the capturing is very smooth, almost no frame dropping.
BUT: for any reason the whole machine freezes after a while (new macbookpro17, 4gb ram, 2,93ghz, newest osx and quicktime), and i can not find out why that happens. there is no logic behind it, freezes also when not touching/handling the patch (which i use since years without problems with blackmagic cards). by the way, i tested it also in modul8 - same problem!

Hey, thats interesting. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to lay my hands on one in person yet, so im not sure how much help I can be.
General troubleshooting: You should check the console log in /Applications/Utilities/Console.app and see if you can see the kernel panic log or anything else. Remove any other QT components you have installed, like 3rd party codecs etc.

Out of curiosity, are you on OS X or Windows? Machine specs?
as i wrote before i tested it on a brandnew apple 17inch macbookpro 2,93 ghz, 4gb ram, 8600 nvidia... now - on the matrox website i saw that they have had some problems testing this machine, but nothing about my freezing-problem: http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/mac/mxo2/system/computers/
anyway good news: out of curiosity i tested the matrox yesterday on my old macbookpro (15inch, 2,4 ghz, 3gb ram) and it works fantastic! no problems with crashing, freezing, framedropping or anything else... love it!
so - if you're not using the matrox with the 17inch macbookpro (spec above) - i can warmly recommend it!
