Problems with Fire-I and QTCap - PLEASE HELP

I am a newbie at jitter, a few questions. I need to get my video image from my fire-i board camera to jitter using qtcap - I get an image in qtcap but when I try to get jitter to show a list of devices it just shows a test pattern! Yeeaargh! I'm at my wit's end right now - very tired and frustrated. Any links or suggestions anyone can give me?

I'm using the jit.qt.grab or whatever help file to try and get things to run... I had it earlier, I don't know what I did or am doing wrong.

Also - how to I use externals like Teleo and cv.jit? I've installed them correctly I just can't find where to access the objects once in Max. Thank you for ANY help.

Thank you for your quick response! I am going to attempt to figure it out tomorrow. Some more detailed information:

Fire-I Board camera using the latest drivers
WinXP/64 bit Athlon
Quicktime 6.5/Max 4.5/Jitter 1.5

I rolled back Quicktime to 6.5 (Fire-I wasn't being recognized by Quicktime 7 for some reason) and I got it working, my suspicion is the format I'm streaming it in. Is there a native video format I need to specify in the Fire-I application so that it will be compatible with/be recognized as a valid input in Jitter? The truly aggravating part is getting it to work for one session and then coming back to find that the only input recognized is the test pattern.

Again, thanks for the help.

I've been trying different stuff to sort this out. I have it to where my unibrain camera shows up in the input list. I select it, put it in vdig mode, open it, and then bam - test image (with the circle and text). I have Abstract Plane's VDIG. When I go to 'video settings' in the jit.qt.grab none of the dialog buttons work under the heading of 'DirectShow Properties' and when I try to switch it to 'Source' in the dropdown menu it crashes Max/MSP.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

why not try jit.dx.grab and bypass QT entirely for video capture?

Haha, I figured that out last night and came to try and edit my post (which I can't do?). Thanks though. Does anyone know if jit.dx.grab will work with cv.jit? Or is it Quicktime specific?

cv.jit doesn't take quicktime input, it takes jitter matrix input :)
jit.qt.grab or dx.grab doesn't output QuickTime, it outputs jitter
matrices.
