PSA: FOLDER OBJECT DOESN'T WORK IN HIGH SIERRA

I've just been alerted (way too late) that there's a known bug in the latest version of max with Mac OS High Sierra, where the folder object spits out files in random order. It used to be alphabetical order.
There's no solution, only waiting for Max 8, sometime in the next 7 months.
Since Cycling 74 doesn't care to alert their users to known bugs, I'm posting this in hopes that it saves someone the grief that it's causing me.

Unfortunately too late, at least in my case… Did you receive a direct answer from the support?
Weird that Cycling refuses to repair it until the next major release.

yeah, they told me they know about the bug, but didn't care to post the info.

Hi, I have the same issue with polybuffer~ when read folder....

Same problem. I can't open three apps from SoundMorph since I updated to High Sierra. The Max console of these apps shows "no such objet" in dozens of lines.

Thanks for posting! I thought I was going crazy. This completely broke my instrument that relies on polybuffer~. Any news from cycling about a fix?

The version of Max that comes with Live 10 fixes it. I wish they would just release that as a standalone

Darwin Grosse got back to me with an update from the devs:

"I believe that this is the APFS issue that cropped up on High Sierra, where folders are not guaranteed to be in alphabetical order. We have a fix for it in our latest, and the bundled version in Live 10. We also hope to push out a Max 7.3.5 (or something) by the end of the month, which would have this fix."

Also, in the meantime, he worked up a patch that you can swap in as a replacement that does the sorting manually:

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.
