question about MIDI and virtual tracks

Hi all,

it's been few days I'm tinkering with Max to control Logic, and I'm wondering few things:

- is it possible somehow to control more than 16 tracks at once? i control virtual instruments with MIDI, but it only has 16 channels...
- is there a way to change the actual virtual instrument to control? For istantce, is it possible to have just one channel with a piano virtual instrument in it, and change the piano into a virtual instrument violin *from max*? Somebody tried this in Kontakt maybe?

The point is i'd like to build a patch that uses three, four virtual instruments at once, but those instruments must be ever changing... is there any suggestion?
thanks guys,
and happy holidays

i cant answer your question really...
but you can change patches and presets in kontakt with "programm change" midi messages

thanks for the reply,

I'll have have a look at program change to see if it solves...

One question coffeencigs... maybe a little OT...: do you use Kontakt with Max?
If so, do you know if there's a way to have the equivalent of a Max Application/External in Kontakt?
I'd like to build my Kontakt sessions and run them on other computers which does not have Kontakt.
I donwloaded the Kontakt player, but I really can't understand if it can act as a runtime...
