Quickie - convert AIFF-C to WAV (or regular AIFF)?

davidestevens's icon

Does anybody know of an app on Mac OSX to convert AIFF-C files to a format that Max will read? I have a bunch of samples that I would like to use, but none of the various audio/video convertor or editor programmes I have will open them.

Edit: I foundSoundConvertor, which is supposed to do it, but the conversion is failing
thanks

iTunes will do it, although it's not the easiest UI.

You've also got SoX on your Mac. Terminal interface, so you can write scripts using it. You can probably convert everything with a single command line (if you're comfortable with command lines).

There's also Switch <http://www.nch.com.au/switch/>.

Thanks Peter, I'll give iTunes a go. I tried Switch, but it wasn't having it, so maybe there's something else about these particular files (they are from my Ableton Live folder)

Edit: Hmm. iTunes won't import them either. I think I'll give up on these samples and see what else I have laying around my hard drive...

Soundhack?

Thanks Jesse, but I tried that too. The files will load, but they show as empty. Or headerless.
Never mind, I have other stuff.

I recommend iDealshare VideoGo whch can batch convert AIFF to WAV with high audio quality on Mac or Windows.

It also can convert AIFF to FLAC, MP3, WMA, AC3, AAC, OGG, RA, AU, MP2, DTS, M4A

Have you tried using any the free online converter tool. I am not sure how SoundConvertor works, but this is the tool I usually use and it works fine.
