Andrew,

Thanks for the good news.

First impressions (ten minutes from install)

UB Radial doesn't recognise existing authorisation, in fact breaks old one after the UB is demoed, so that now my PPC version (which was previously working fine) needs reauthorisation.

There is something amiss with sound in the UB version. On a Core2Duo Macbook w. 2.0 Ghz Ram running 10.4.9 the sound is muffled and faint coming through built in sound. When running PPC version afterwards to check, sound is fine.

willl let you know more as the journey unfolds.

I have the same auth problem reported by sixnon. Both the UB and PPC versions now request authorization.

Hi all,

Can't comment on the authorisation issues, as I'm running Radial on my new
Macbook Pro in demo mode for now, I guess until the office opens next
Tuesday right?

A couple of small issues I have noticed tho'...

The radial legend is too big for the dock and squashes up against the next
icon wherever you put it. The mixer size isn't remembered when you when save
the current positions as default, and again when resizing the mixer window,
the pug-in names aren't resized accordingly and so you end up with (at
different sizes) half or less of the plug-in name.

The biggest one is when you open the Channel Inspector for the first time,
it opens in the extreme upper left-hand corner of the screen, underneath the
mac os menu bar. This then makes it impossible to drag to a new position, as
he window doesn't seem "grabable" by anything other than its own menu bar...
Any workarounds?

Apart from that all is fine and dandy! Will post anything further as I find
it out.

Thanks for this Andrew, Gregory et al - I'm very glad that I'll be able to
use Radial again on my new machine.

A further update on the Channel inspector issue - using an Apple+Caps key
combination, the mouse pointer turns into a grabber icon so it is possible
to move the window around. HOWEVER, it appears to rip the window from the
application background leaving a white space where the window was... The
same happens even if the radial background is turned off and you're looking
at your own desktop...

Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully a new auth will fix it. If you haven't already , please send your challenge in to the office.

icon wherever you put it.

- weird. Nobody here has seen that as far as I know. I just used the icon creator in Developer Tools.

The mixer size isn't remembered when you when save
the current positions as default, and again when resizing the mixer window,

- ok - I'll look in to it, thanks for the report. I suspect mixer size has never been saved, but it might be nice if it could be.

the pug-in names aren't resized accordingly and so you end up with (at
different sizes) half or less of the plug-in name.

- ok - you might be out of luck here but I'll look.

Does this happen every time you start radiaL? Have saved the new position as default? Does it happen with any other windows you have opened for the first time? Does it happen again if you throw your prefs and re-open the channel inspector window? I know where this problem might be, but I thought I fixed it a while ago.

Thanks for the notes

Ok guys, sorry for this problem. Please send in your challenges to the office and hang tight till they can get to you. They are in the new space today, so hopefully they will be working normally but your patience is very much appreciated.

How do you have your browswer set to look at icons? It's fine on my machine.

I will readily admit to my situation being a result of my
using and gigging with occasionally exotic builds, but did
radiaL *ever* save window size? Position, sure. But size?

artofnoises@gmail.com's icon

I think I was being incredibly over-fussy about the Radial legend. Please ignore that comment...

And you're right, radial has never saved mixer window size. I was making a play that it would be great if it did.

Joe

PS its so nice to have radial working on my new machine. Thanks again to all involved.

Radial is not accepting Zoom H4 as an input device. It shows up in Audio Setup as an Input Device, but Input source remains blank. No such problems with other OSX apps.

Authorisation proceeded quickly and without issue, thanks for that.

so..an update

it seems that the selecting of the H4 in Radial was the thing which broke it!

Upon quitting Radial, the H4 again worked in other softwares. I rebooted and checked the H$ in Radial wherein it now works! Still no input selection, but audio from the unit making it through.

I noticed a few bugs in the release and I cant wait for the final build of Radial UB for my live set what an awesome app and thank you for the community beta test.

*select loop region shows up transparent and unable to drag and drop audio into them by mouse. apple+number of channel or dragging into the shaping filter seems to work for now.

*configuration window, midi window, channel inspect window, loads onto top left of the screen and when moved with apple+shift it leaves a white outline also the save window position will-not fix position of these windows on restart.

*most Pluggo plugins and all the preset selects are not working: Average injector, Chamberverb, Feedback Network, FilterTaps, Generic Effect, HF Ring mod, Jet, Limi, Nebula, Resonation, resosweep, Spectral Filter, and the perviously listed Diaye.

Tested on macbook pro 2.16 ghz Intel core2, 2GB Ram and 7200rpm HD
pluggo 3.61 and radial 1.5 beta.

snoogynik's icon

I have noticed a bug also...

You can't drag and drop samples into the circle slots sometimes and it gets very annoying and the only solution to that is to restart the application over and over again without any progress musically Radial.

Hi,

Is there any projected timescale for an official release of
Radial for UB?

I've played with the beta in demo mode and would like to purchase, but only have an intel based mac nowadays.

Just a rough idea would be helpful.

Thanks

I would like to know if Radial will continue to be developed at all. It feels like a 'dead app', with perhaps a few tweaks for operating systems in the future and that's all. There doesn't seem much enthusiasm for it here, or to upgrade the features. Shame, as there could be a lot more developed out of the app as it stands.I would appreciate a frank answer.

Andrew Pask's icon

As you are aware, radiaL development is not a priority.

I may be able to get to look at some of the issues reported here, but I can't make any promises regarding the timeliness of fixes or a prediction for the UB release.

The final UB release of radiaL will most likely not contain any new features above
and beyond the beta version which is available now.

Is radiaL being nursed along to keep up with OS changes? Yes.

Will there be a new version of radiaL incorporating some of the cool
stuff which is being developed in Max 5? Maybe, but don't hold your
breath. We have no current plans for a revised new version.

Cheers

I have been having problems getting radiaLFO to work. I am currently running radiaL version 1.50b1, Pluggo version 3.61 and Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerMac G5. I can load the plugin but I cannot get it to modulate anything. Is a newer version of the plugin necessary for version 1.50b1 of radiaL? I am currently using a copy of radiaLFO from version 1.35 of radiaL.

Thanks,
Wayne
