I am working on a pair of scripts; router and client. i have the router generate a number for the client upon the clients creation and i want that number to persist between sessions.
i can't get past the idea that this is a weird contradiction though. i want to check to see if the numbers exist before i generate them, but saving the patch to distribute means that they will have been saved.
i think that my issue is with the way i initialize. i set to null and check against that. normally this is fine, but here it is hurting my thinking. is everything fine if i, within the client, create an attribute and do NOT initialize it? i think asking the question has worked it out in my head, but i am interested in 'best' ways to accomplish this.
