I'm trying to find an elegant solution to interpolate between two counter objects, with different phases, and different rates inside gen~

i have a rate input, which is controlling the period of one counter object, and then this rate is also working as a clock divider for another *master* counter object inside gen~

these counter objects are used to read from a buffer

as it stands, i can switch between the *free* counter object, and the *locked* quantized one, and there is a little jump in rate and phase

what i would like to happen is that on triggering a *quantize* there would be a rate adjustment over a period of time applied to the *free* counter obeject, and the curve of this adjustment would correct the projected phase difference (phase difference being integral of rate / time) + the initial phase difference, and once it is complete the *free* counter object is essentially phase locked to the *locked* one, and any change of rate will have the effect of a clock divider so it is always phase locked to the master

on *unquantize* i just want the rate to go back to that of the unquantized phase that is being input into the system

everything i try seems really janky, i think i have a rough handle of the maths needed but its my patching that isn't up to scratch

does anyone have any ideas as to an approach?
