re-patching old externals
it seems to be hard to find patches of processes which are equal or similar to older externals.
i am in the progress of getting rid of as many third party externals as possible - while making them better.
my main interest are the signal objects by miller puckette, tristan, and the percolate instruments.
for example i already built an all-signal version of paf msp long time ago, so that i now can modulate it properly or add additional formants.
i´d also love to see a patch of how pmpd link & mass are working, so that i can build myself a custom signal abstraction of it for MacOS9.
best would be max4 patches, pd patches, or images of those., but if someone has some readable quasi code for that or a max 6 patch, that would be better than nothing.

i would like to see your paf patch
thank you for bumping this, it was about time. :)
note that the three inputs are all "frequency in note numbers". so you can directly add a kslider, for example.

thanks. it needs loadsolo 110 paffer and peekhelper to work
Hi Roman,
3fluire here. here is a gen~ paf version by Olivier Pasquet (i think)
i deleted the above paf patches.
1. the naming scheme was weird; the phase is not the carrier, it is the phase.
"carrier" and "modulator" are now properly used as specified by the ucsd.edu tutorial.
2. phase of master phasor can be reset at audio rate now, so that you can synchronize many oscillators of the same (or different) frequencies.
3. included alternative layout using single connections between the modules in the "-x" versions of the patches. see example file.
use the "-x" ones as default; only go back to the multiple-inlet versions when you have trouble with the "-x" stuff.
Hi! By chance is there a paf˜ object for M1 silicon mac ? that would be wonderful! <3
ps: not sure how to try those mxb.bin files in the zips above , but anyway, i'm not sure it works on M1, or?
🙏
those are patches in max 4 format and work fine in max 8. the gen~ version from christian should, too.
my abstraction are full-signal, which the external object is not. that means that you can optimize polyphony (multiple formants) applications, but it also means it needs like 3-5 times more CPU.
for a "correct" use as proposed by miller puckette you may only send a phasor ramp into it, but feel free to try other things. it is modular for a reason. :)
(hint: phase offset & windows with overlap!)
if you want a binary, somebody probably also have made that for M1 in between, (probably somebody called volker).
p.s.:
in windows, remove the .bin, assign one of them to max and after you did, all of them will open from the desktop.
max 4 files with or without .mxb will work completely regular in max 8 mac or win >=10 64 except for the /extras menu.
i am still looking for a 100% [granola~] MSP patch replacement (object by eric lyon). it is probably simple to do, but i am too lazy.
as it seems, creating MSP patches by hand has become out of fashion.
