Recommendation for a Joystick and Games pad for OSX
Hi all
Any recommendations with OSX drivers?
Regards
Stephen
ah ha, i can help you there.
i recently bought a gamepad for myself, to play old emulators and the such [donkey kong, oh yeah], also on crossover games playing half life 2. plus a bit of max in there as well
i would recommend the controller i got, which only cost me under £7. it looks just like the xbox controller, not the 360 or the first original one, but the updated controller for the first console. the one they had to bring out because people complained saying that it hurt too much to play with.
i love the thing, its comfortable and has some nice rubber pads as well so its even more comfortable. plus as well it is in the shape of the xbox controller. i hate the playstation ones, i think they are utter cock and are way too uncomfortable after a lot of hours of use. thats why i chose it, plus the price tag
the controller is called 'Madcatz PC Game Pad Pro'. it was the wired version, not wireless.
and as a big huge bonus, it does not need any drivers to get it running. it runs natively off of it, which is great
hope this helped...
Hi Stephen and Lewis,
I'm seeking some clarification... I, too, have a Madcatz wired controller, but mine doesn't show up in the hi menu. I can see it in the OSX USB devices pane, but states the following, copied here along with system info:

Any suggestion regarding what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,

Is the controlled plugged *before* you start Max/MSP?
Also, if you have installed a driver for this controller, it might interfere and make it impossible for Max/MSP to use it.
I have used Saitek P880 and P990 gamepads under OS X without problem - but without drivers (by the way there are no Saitek MacOS X drivers). They cost something like 15 euros.
