Recording midi information in max
Hi all,
How do i go about recording a short midi sequence in max? I have a midi controller set up to play four different sound sources, and i would like to be able to record the midi performance for one sound for around 4 bars, then have that part play in a loop while i record another loop with the midi controller on another of the sound sources i have set up.
I want to record the information as midi rather than audio, as i plan to be able to save the individual parts as midi files so they can be imported into a sequencer (is this possible??)
Thanks,
Jason
Hmmm in thinking about this im not sure id actually be recording midi information, as the information im using to control sounds in max is just midi note number and velocity, and obviously i would need some sort of information on when note on/offs are triggered for each note.
I have no idea how to do this? Is it possible or should i find a way of recording the audio instead? (Id rather go with whatever is quickest and easiest as its for a uni project with a very close deadline!
Thanks,
Jason
Quickest way would probably be recording the midi. You can use a [seq] to record/playback the MIDI...
yes, a sequencer would do the job exactly as you want, much simpler than working on a patch for it.
