regarding codec types

hello,
i have a question regarding codec types used by jit.qt.record.
i'm recording jitter quicktime movies using jit.qt.record which i later want to edit in Finalcut pro. problem is, i can't get the right codec type to work properly in both environments; when i record a 'video' or 'raw' codec type i get high resolution and satisfying movie result, but i also get weird color shifts and wrong rgb values when trying to use those movies in FinalCut. on the other hand, when i try recording a 'dvpal' or 'dvpalpro' codec i get clips that works well in FinalCut but in a very low resolution. whats the way to work that out?

thanks!

Spk.

FCP supports codecs according to this spec:
http://www.apple.com/de/finalcutstudio/finalcutpro/specs.htm l

DV-PAL recordings need to be made at 720x576 (otherwise, it's not really
DV-PAL, even if it's been compressed with that codec). Given that, they
ought to work properly. What exactly is "low resolution"?

hey, thanks for your reply.
with low resolution i mean that the dvpal codec quicktime movie output of jit.qt.record looks more pixelated than a video or raw codec with the same dimensions. the dvpal codecc is degrading the movie.

It will always degrade more than video or raw, especially with color
data. Check out http://codecs.onerivermedia.com for more info and
examples of different codec artifacts on test images.

However, it sounds to me like you might also not have the high
quality enabled flag turned on for your media (in FCP I think it's
also an option for when previewing, though can't remember). This can
be turned on in jit.qt.movie with the highquality attribute.
Otherwise QT only renders every other scanline.
