Reliable USB or Bluetooth foot switch -- exist?

Hello - does anyone know of a USB footpedal out there that is as reliable and accurate as a normal usb keyboard?

for example, with a keyboard you can use a space bar to trigger events (quickly in succession too) and will never need to worry about "debouncing." But the moment you try something similar with foot pedaI there can be problems. I have an air turn pedal for example.

Suggestions of other equipment for triggering events in Max?

Hey D S!

This is NOT an off-the-shelf solution and requires a little bit of DIY, but....

I have used these boards for years, very simple and you can hook anything to them. is USB powered. Mine are BU0836A models i believe. I mounted the board in a old 3/4 tape case, put a few 1/4 inch jacks in the side, then bought some simple ebay keyboard footswitches for about $7 apiece and have used them to control Max, Quartz Composer, and VDMX on gigs for years...

I seem to remember getting them to work with Ableton Live to change scenes / start / stop etc.

No double taps, no weirdness, it just works. Has been a good way to trigger things with my feet.

Be sure to look for "Latching" and "Momentary" when purchasing footswitches

Shows up as a universal USB device (no drivers for Mac or PC : )

If this is more than you want to mess with - Google "assistive usb devices" and you should find all kinds of turnkey USB foot switches and devices that should do whatcha want.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.

I am not so sure about building my own at moment, but I appreciate the tips. What I really am looking for is a pedal that is not just reliable for cues as they are customarily used--but one that can respond with the reliability and speed of a keyboard. This basically rules out pedals with a 1/4 inch jack that I have seen, even though many are fine for slower triggering.

I will give your search suggestions a try. Thanks again
