rewiring audio from max/msp into ableton live
I'm trying to do it like this but it's not working:
-open live, then max/msp
-set the driver on max/msp to ad_rewire
-select the "Audio From" in Live to max/msp
it works when i rewire the audio from reason into live this way. do i need to use the rewire~ object in my patch?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
karl
No you don't have to use rewire~. I don't know about Ableton but for Cubase
it works like this:
- open max -> set audio driver to ad_rewire (enables max to be identified
as a rewire slave)-> close max
- open cubase -> max shows up in the device list -> enable
- open max again, and send your audio out the dac like you're used to. Now
it's supposed to turn up in your rewire mixer.
hope this helps.

I was also wondering about this. I'm using Cubase and am trying to figure out how I can record what I'm "playing" in max directly into Cubase. Is this even possible with rewire? It seems this is the kinda stuff it's intended for. but how?
Thanks
you can use an aux send on your max channels in the cubase mixer, and record
the bus you send to.

rewire~, I believe, is for acting as the host. You want to slave it so set the options in the audio window and your audio should go out dac~ 1 2, for example, would be rewire channel 1+2 in on Abletons side.
If you are using mac, the best way would be to use soundflower (you can get it on this site) You could then just set the audio out of Ableton to soundflower 1,2 and the inputs of max to soundflower 1,2. totally bypassing using rewire.Hope this helps.
