Running max headless on a linux-based server with Apache
Max Community,
I am hoping to stream the audio output of a headless patch to web users as a sort of internet radio station. I want to run the patch on a server, rather than on my personal machine, but I can't find much information on running Max patches on the type of server I'll be using. Is it possible to take the same patch I'm running on my Macbook Air, and run it in Runtime on a Linux-based server using Apache software? If how do I stream the audio data produced by my patch to web users without requiring them to download anything?
I might not be making myself clear, so I'll restate in different words. I don't want the users to see my patch, because it's not interactive, and I don't even care if they know it's running. I just want them to hear the audio it produces. I can't leave my patch running 24/7/365 on my own computer for many reasons, so I want to run it on the server instead. But I've only seen examples of people running Max patches on Windows and Mac servers. I want to know if I can be run my patch on a Linux server using Apache software, and if I can I also need to know how to get the audio produced by my patch sent to multiple users without them running the patch themselves or having to download anything. Basically, I want to turn the audio output of my patch into an internet radio station. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Michael
max won't run on linux, you'll need to run a windows or mac server, or switch to pd
