I am working on a patch that will have 15 groove~ objects or play~ object that each of them will play different audio file.

it will be a part of installation where people will be able to trigger the files. I'm guessing that in each moment will be more then 5 audio files are playing, but still - I would like to make a dynamic patch that will change the amplitude of the files based on how many tracks are playing. 

If only one track is playing -it will be multiple by 1( unity gain). The moment another track is triggered - counter it 2; The file that is already playing will scale down to 0.5 over x time and the new file will also scaling from 0 to 0.5. 

If three tracks are playing each of them will be at 0.333. 

How can I make that type of dynamic patch that will constantly check how many files are playing and will change the amplitude of the playing files in respective to the number of track playing ?

First stage - I have build a counter based on the current state of tracks (for the moment 4 tracks)

and added a Coll object to store the values of amplitude based on counter

how can I then dynamicly change the amplitude of tracks based on that counter?

I think I am almost there but my patch seems too complicated and with some bug still.

It seems to work fine. I wonder if there is a simpler solution? 

Also - is there any table that scaling the gain of audios based of amount of audio that are playing? I know that if only 1 is playing it should be multiply by 1 and if two each of them should be multiply by 0.5. Is this continue linearly as more audio are playing? so if 5 are playing - each should be 0.2 and if 10 each should be 0.1?

Post patch without any send~ & receive~ , with at least few of real objects that will be used for playback, also matching number of channels,

Instead of fetching start play mesages, you should chase

For that some are easier to deal with than the other.

And anyway, I would use sfplay~ for that and single matrix~

That makes big difference in terms of suggesting much simpler solution.

Instead of fetching start play mesages, you should chase
real play status of the players.
For that some are easier to deal with than the other.

And anyway, I would use sfplay~ for that and single matrix~

 which load an audio file into array/buffer and then play it back. I guess is similar to Max sfplay~ (?)

if it has to run on puredata, then why not program it using puredata ?

my solution would be to capture play status of all players using their position outlet, sum number of currently playing ones,

and recall attenuation factor for single matrix~ object set to ramp time

you put your attenuaton values into coll or umenu or whatever.

00 $1, 1 1$1 means: route input 0 to output 0 at gain of x; route input 1 to output 1 at gain of x ?

it does not matter how many input I feed into the matrix~ inputs? 

so if I have 3 splay~ inside the matrix~ it will multiple all of them by factor of 0.3?

You ask too many questions for obvious and simple stuff.

i would make the "note on" into 1 and the "note off" into -1 and feed accum with these numbers.

unless we are talking about pure tones or other simple synthesizer oscillators, -6 db (aka 1/n) might be too much.

try the same with only -2 db in comparison and use a limiter if you are afraid of clipping at the dac.

how can I calculate -2db in term of 0 and 1 ? 0 no sound and 1 full amplitude
