SD card player / amplifier

Hi all,

this is not a Max question but I figured that many of you are creating installations and might have experience with what I need. I'm creating a permanent sound installation for an indoor space and I'm looking into devices that

- can play a large number of sound files from a SD card or similar medium
- have a random play mode
- have a built in amplifier for medium-sized speakers (think: car speakers)
- have a remote control (this is optional)
- will power up and start playing when central current is turned on (preferrably)
- are cheap

An example would be the Lepai LP-A7.

What do you use for such cases?

Thanks
Tobias

How about an Arduino with a shield? You get total control over how it functions and the whole setup is quite cheap. E.g. this shield:

If You get into DIY, then also worth trying is Teensy 3.2 with PJRC Audio Shield.
