Selecting Output Channels
Hi There
I am trying to use max/msp in order to create a virtual dj app. What i need to do is channel outputs to specific output channels of my sound card. My sound card has 10 outputs so that should not be a problem.
SO I COULD HAVE A TRACK PLAYING THROUGH THE FIRST CHANNEL, THEN GOING OUT TO A MIXER CHANNEL WHERE I CAN CONTROLL EQS ETC FOR THAT TRACK. I WANT TO DO THIS FOR SEVERAL TRACKS SO I CAN PLAY THEM SIMULTANIOUSLY AND MIX THEM TOGETHER IN THEIR SPECIFIC CHANNELS, WHICH WILL BE COMING OUT OF THE DEFINED CHANNEL OF MY SOUND CATD. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO DEFINE A SPECIFIC CHANNEL OF THE SOUNDCARD, FOR A SPECIFIC TRACK???
P.S I have tried useing the dac object with arguments after such as dac 1, dac 2... I thought that was how to define a channel of your soundcard for the output, but didnt work, all the tracks still CLASHED ON THE SAME CHANNEL
Please help :)

with the patch you sent, the signal will be sent to the 2 first
output of the selected sound card. If you want to send signal to
others channels just use the arguments of the dac~ object, i. e.
[dac~ 3] if you want to send sound to the third output of your sound
card.
HTH,
ej
-to send a patch, Copy then Paste in your message, that works better for
everybody.
-In your patch, how do you change the output channel? There's nothing to do
that in your patch. For the moment, you should receive sound on outputs 1
and 2. If you type [dac~ 3 4], that should work on outputs 3 and 4. You can
set that from a patch with the message |set|
Jean-François.

But shouting is doing the opposite I didn't read it at all because of
that, its hurting the eyes... If you want help, you need to make it as
easy as possible...
The best medicine against frustration is doing the tutorials and reading
the collection of documentation. If you come across a brickwall, just
calm down with studying those... ;-)

Hi
Sorry to all those that regarded what i was saying as shouting. I didnt know useing capitals was regarded as shouting. It wasnt meant like that in the slightest.
I got the answer. My sound card was on the blink. The arguments after the dac are now working correctly.
Thanks to all for the help
