Sending audio via Bluetooth

Greetings all,

I am looking for a way to stream audio out of Max via the bluetooth in my
powerbook (OS 10.4.6) to a pair of bluetooth headphones/a bluetooth headset.
I am relatively new to the list, and of the past threads I do have, I have
only found reference to sending data via bluetooth using the serial object.

If it is any consolation, the audio does not have to be high quality, enough
to send a click in mono. My other option is to use a wireless monitoring
system that comes straight off the analog outputs on my soundcard, but I
feel that to cut an extra piece of equipment out of the loop and just use
the bluetooth in my powerbook would be a far more *elegant* way to do
things...

regards all,

Josh

having looked into this a little while ago, I found this company
had some interesting products, but could not find out where to buy them:

These headsets over here are more easily available, but more expensive:

essentially you are looking for voip bluetooth headsets. I am assuming that using something like Soundflower, you can send the sound to the head set.

Good luck!

For whatever it's worth, I just did a big project with this, and
audio bluetooth directly from a Mac can be kind of flaky. (and it
won't support speech recognition, if you're thinking about using
that.) I got the best results with a Plantronics headset, not cheap,
that I hacked. It has a little dongle-y thing that plugs into the
audio out of the mac, and it maintained a much more reliable
connection than just the headset (although it will pair with the mac,
it was never reliable enough to run in an installation). If I recall
correctly, it was something flaky with the sound control panel. I
realize it's still another piece of equipment, but at least it's
small -- about 2/3 the size of an iMic.
