Sending MIDI messages to External Units

Hi all,

I am building a software MIDI control surface in Max/MSP for a KORG ELECTRIBE EMX-1.

I am getting good results with sending MIDI control change and control value messages to the different parameters of the SYNTH parts, as well as NOTE on/off and velocity info to the unit.

All the basics are covered, except that I cannot find a way of triggering the EMX-1 (also a sequencer) to play, nor can I instantiate it's recording function to activate/deactivate. Basically, I want to have a transport panel in Max that sends midi info to make the unit play/stop/record/reset. How can this be done?

How'd this project turn out? I recently got an EMX-1 and am thinking about
its many shortcomings that I need max to help it make up for. Would you care
to share what you built?

Have any other electribe users made anything fun?

for me personally I've just forgotten about trying to sequence the EMX with MIDI and instead have been trying to make a sequencer in Max whose data could be used to control an EMX....seems simpler to me...
