Sending Midi to an Audio Track?

Does anyone know how to send midi from within an Ableton midi track to an Audio track? I know it can be done with a midi instrument

for some custom pluggo plugins and Max4Live patches.

Sending midi between any kind of M4L devices can be done with the send/receive objects from Max or with OSC. But depending on the amount of data it may not always work reliably.

This is a bit pance.

I do it with Pluggo Plug-ins. M4L does not support this function?

This may be a bit late, but if the MIDI track doesn't contain an instrument, you can define where your midi goes with the 'Midi To' menu (the same place where you'd route the audio). Select the track where you want to send midi to and then the device which should receive midi.

I hope this helps.

But with 'Midi To' you cannot route Midi to an Audio track...

Yes, you can. As long as there is an audio effect that can receive midi on the audio track, you can select this track in the 'midi to' menu on the midi track.

I'm constantly using Raktor as an audio effect (Gates and Envelopes, etc.), sending, for example, Note On and Note Off from the midi track to Reaktor on the audio track. Works like a treat.

But this only works if there is no instrument producing audio on the midi track.

Thanks for the clarification.

But as far as I know, M4L audio effects can't receive midi at all (?)

Yes, that procedure doesn't seem to work if there's a M4L audio effect on the audio track. Well, I'm sure there's a way to do it. I'll find out in time. :-)
