Setting multislider candycane color beyond number 8
First eight candycane colors are set within the inspector.
About the other colors, the Reference tells :
"...the next fifteen colors are taken from the Max application's color palette."
So the question is: how does one access the Max application color palette in Max 5?
Isn't this explanation an erroneous survival from Max 4?
Indeed, this little bit is just for backwards compatibility. All colors over 8 are simply hard-coded into Max 5.
Please try to avoid cross-posts to the forums and support. As it is oft said, we monitor both.

Hi Ben,
Just firing up this thread again - is there now any way to access colours beyond candicane 8?
I've got some multisliders objects in a sequencer where the currently active slider illuminates for clear visual feedback. Not being able to implement this beyond 8 sliders is proving to be quite a limitation.
Thanks in advance,
Damian
I tend to use a second [multislider] underneath to show which is the currently active step as a sequencer plays, here's an example.

Thanks a million lh!
You could also superpose it.
or you can use live.step
So what is the status of candycane [multislider] settings as of Max 6+?
The documentation says the first 8 candycane colors are set using the object inspector, and the next 15 are set using the Max Palette.
Seems that on OSx there is no more native Max Palette, thus no way for [multislider] to set its colors (past the initial 8) using the Max Palette.
My goal is to create a default [multislider] with colors of my choice so I don't have to send color messages when I script a newdefault multislider.
Anyone know a way to accomplish this?
years later, same question. How to set the multislider colors of bar 8-23? Or how to change the MaxPalette or which MaxPalette of Max 8 is used?
