sfplay doesn't open audio file
Hi there!
I've just started to use max/msp, and i have a 4.5 version of it (i know it's a bit outdated..) and i got confused right at the beginning! I can!t open the file with the open message!
I've already done the following:
- open (space) the full name of file in message box, that i attached to a bang that i attached to a 1 message that tied to the sfplay. So "open xyz" -» bang -» 1 -» sfplay~ 2 -» digitalaudio converterbox i think that should work
- i also checked whether the file i wanna open is in the same folder as the max file itself
- speakers are on lol
Have no idea what's the problem!

Oh, and the max window says: "sfplay~: no open file"
Occasionally I get this error in Max window:
error opening Kristall_2.mo.aif, err -1
sfplay~: can't open aiff file Kristall_2.mo.aif
with soundfiles that Finder opens and plays fine.
MacOS 10.6.8, MM 6.0.1
That's exactly my problem too. Let's say I have two audio files, each 8 channels, 44.1 kHz and 24 Bit resolution with about the same length. One file sfplay~ opens without any problem, the other one causes this error message:
error opening *.aif, err -1
sfplay~: can’t open aiff file *.aif
Any suggestions?
would it be possible to maybe find out what the error message means exactly?
