Sfplay~ wont play mp3
It is supposed to do that, right?
I'm going through a lesson in Max7 and when dragging an mp3 into the patch, as prompted, the max window says, it won't play this type of file.
sfplay~ should be able to open and play mp3s.
What OS/computer model? What exact version of Max 7? 32 or 64 bit Max? Does it happen with all mp3s?
Max 7.0.1
Mac OSX 10.7.5
wav and aiff work fine, but m4a and mp3 won't play.
This is the case in 32 bit and 64 bit.
sfplay~: Jolene solo.m4a : unable to play this type of file
sfplay~: middle_way_hygg.m4a : unable to play this type of file
sfplay~: 01 cant stop this train.mp3 : unable to play this type of file
Hi HDZ,
mp3s are working on 10.7.5 and Max 7.0.1 for us. Drop a note to support at cycling 74 dot com with an example mp3 and we can take a closer look.
Best,
-Ben
it's working fine here on 10.10.1 and 7.0.1, fwiw.
Hi,
I found out that max7 sfplays does read mp3 files under windows 7 32 bits.
But sfinfo does not work well, I mean with a regular "open" message. the same file will be readen by sfplay and will give an error with sfinfo...
If you name the sfplay and access to it with a "getnamed" message to sfinfo it works...
This solution needs to much latency between the loading of the file to sfplay and the sf info result, even with deferlow message.
Is there any hope sfinfo can work with an open file message?
Best.
Nicolight
I have same problem as HDZ, on support I was advised to delete all files of max from my mac and reinstall newly downloaded max msp, but not helped... Now support is not answering .... :-(
I have newest version of max msp (7.2.1) and macbook pro retina OS X 10.11.04.
Any advice? Im quite new in max and was trying lessons in max....
I'm having the same issue but with m4a files.
I'm using latest version of MAX on Windows 10
I made a new topic about it.
