[SHARE] two homage(?) patches for two japanese artists...
i made two patches that emulate (to the best of my ability) musical styles of well known japanese artists who are often associated with use of max/msp. so i thought i'd share with you...
the first artist is ryoji ikeda.
i'm not sure if he needs any intro in this forum, but very cool artist, to say the least.
here's my emulation.

this is basically a wavetable synth with step sequencers.
ryoz_ikedar_bl.mxt in the .zip is the patch.
click on "test" and it'll start the patch.
it's a bit messy but pretty straightforward. lots of duplications.
if you take out duplications, you'll see what's going on.
the second artist is cokiyu.
she is also well known among maxers in japan.
here's my emulation.

kocyu.mxt in the .zip is the patch.
clicking anywhere on the canvas will make sound.
hope you have fun with them...

Fantastic patches, thanks =)
thank you for kind words...
very cool! I'd like to try to use this in my next live setup.
very Fantastic patches.....
much appreciated.
thank you very much!
Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing!
you do do wonderful things :)
indeed, these are very interesting!
First of all thanks for your beautiful work.
But I have a question: in a subpatch of the subpatch p ryoichi there is an object called wtest which I was not able to identify or find in the cycling site. Could somebody help me? Is it an old object from max 4? What is the current version of it?
elisabatti
the patch is from more than 2 years ago so i don't remember the details,
but an object called [wtest] doesn't sound familiar to me either.
it might just be my random mistake that i failed to delete.
is it connected to anything?
missed this first time around, thank you mesa
hey mesa
yes it is inside all the riyochi subpatches. It takes the signal (sig~) and multiplies it by an envelope....
okay, looks like [wtest] is a subpatch for wavetables.
there is a file call wtest in the zip file.
you should be able to double click in the patch to see inside,
or if you are using mac, add .mxt or .pat at the end (i.e. wtest.mxt or so),
and you should be able to open it up from max menu.
sorry for the confusion. i don't know why i gave it such an awful name...
thx mesa now i got it!!!
all the best
elisa
Can someone please explain me how i edit the patch? I'm able to put the patcher in edit mode, but unable to actually open the subpatchers because of the construction of the patch.
Thanks! It kind of works. The general GUI is gone and the window still refreshes to a certain size, where some objects were hiding.
I am able to get into the Bpatchers though.

Could you perhaps explain me how you did this? Than i can manage to do the same for the Cokiyu & future locked patches.
Hello Mesa,
First of all thanks for sharing this patch which sounds amazing. Trying to get my head around it. I can see you have used a lot of mathematical expressions for the sequencing. Any chance you could explain this further?
Thank you for your support
