Shimmer Reverb in Max
Hello! I'm working on trying to make a shimmer reverb for a live performance in Max. Has anyone ever worked on one before or have any leads on how to go about doing this? Thanks!
i dont know what is the "right " way to build this, but i would set up a simple mechanism which allows me to add a pitch shifted and delayed version of the input signal right into the same reverb algorithm.
i have done it this way because i use more than one pitch shifted copy and reverb is too CPU hungry to set it up as parallel processes.
I'm new in Max and I'm looking for some shimmer reverb in Max forums but I didn't find, also I have been trying to make a shimmer reverb but I don't have any information about how to create a reverb.
take a look at yafr2/reverb_example in ExamplesOverview. the onepole~ + 4x allpass~ can be ripped out and expanded to a diffusion/early reflections verb. increase the max delay times and multiply the values to change size. throw in a feedback loop with a simple pitch shift like gizmo~. you'll have a basic shimmer verb to give an idea of where to go next (add filtering, modulation, late reflections, more allpass stages etc)
sean costello/valhalladsp's writings on his shimmer vst are a great resource as well. just don't get too lost down the reverb-topology rabbit hole.
