Simple Question about [line]

I am having trouble finding a way to pause the [line] object. Why is it that I can send the messages 'pause' and 'resume' to the [line~] object and not to the [line] object?

Is there a simply way of doing this without crossing over into MSP terrain?

Thanks : )

line takes a stop message, but not pause/resume. I suppose you could do some work to figure out where one had gotten to upon the receipt of a stop message, so as to be able to set a new target if you needed to resume, but that sound like way more work than using line~ and snapshot~

Exactly! That's great! Thanks kaboo.

However, I thought that there'd be an easier way? Is there a valid reason for the omission of a pause messages from the [line] object?

Cheers : )

line was born some years before line~. If you're absolutely dead set against using line~, here's a way to manipulate messages to line to make it behave much like line~

(years later...) Thank you, Chris.
Looking at your line patch and fooling around with it in MAX7, I noticed that after having pressed 'resume', line continues at a much slower rate... Do you have any idea what that might cause? I'm sure I'm overlooking something!
Thanks in advance. JB
