singing bowl and other physical modelling instruments
Hi List,
Didn't Stefania Serafin make some nice physical modeling instruments, like the singing bowl etc? I can't seem to find them online. If anyone else knows of cool physical modeling objects for max msp then please let me know.

There were some papers and dissertations, but that was 11/12 years ago, which probably means that online archives of objects and patches are limited.
Thank you. I did not know about this. I just wonder if I can keep it within max somehow (max objects) that do physical modeling. Anyone who have made max objects or some synth patches that do physical modeling?

Hi Kaspar
Whether or not this patch demonstrates 'true' physical modelling (see Julius Smith and Perry Cook) is open for debate; this is more like sophisticated synthesis with low overheads :)
Dave Bessell made a fairly simple synth years ago using vanilla Max objects that does really convincing metal and wood sounds (and there's pizzicato violin in there too); I think presets 2 and 4 might get you close to a singing bowl, or at least a good place to start.

Sounds cool with Dave Bessell's stuff. Googled him ... where can I find his max work? Did he do tutorials?
I still use percolate from time to time. Especially "bowedbar" has me reeling every time I turn it on.
Most stuff on physical modeling is written in some complex dialect. these were really easy to understand:

there's Modalys from Ircam - but it does cost money.
@peter oh wow, nice catch, that! A gen~ workshop is exactly what I need - yum!
Big Up (as the kidz probably no longer say!) to both Jon and Peter for this. Invaluable learning tool.
Oh wow I didn't know Jon had put that together. Those patches originated in a class on delay-based signal processing that Jon taught in 2012. One of the best classes I ever took! I've posted Jon's packet of examples that can be translated into Gen on the forum before.
