Snapping to grid rather than objects
Hi Guys,
I am really loving all the new features in Max 7 especially the new time warping features which is making possible a project that I had only dreamed about until now.
There is one slight niggle though. I know I may be unusual in this but I really hate snapping to objects and much prefer snapping to the grid. It just looks so much neater to me especially with the beautifully minimalist new square object boxes. However the option to set snap to grid as the default for new patchers seems to have disappeared. Am I just missing something? If it has been removed can I put in a feature request to get it back or at least a keyboard shortcut to turn snap to object off?
Many thanks,
Cphas
I see that this is old, but it's been bothering me too - feels weird that it's absent given that it was available in Max 6. Checked the Max 7 preferences file and it doesn't even has the fields for it anymore. It's rather annoying that every time I open a new window I have to turn it on.
One solution I've found in the meantime for Mac is to use the global keyboard preferences to map a key command to the option in the menu. That way you can at least change it quickly.
Any update here? I saw an old thread that described making a template but I tried it with no success.
it works here, just open a new patcher, unlock, apply a style if you like then press shift+cmd+i
Set show grid on open and snap to grid on open
Then File/Create Template.... making sure default for new patchers is checked.
Been struggling with this as well, thx leafcutter, your solution finally worked......
