sound detection
Hey everyone im trying to create a patch that syncs images/video to specific beats or sounds within a song, then repeats the image/video every time that specific sound is played.
i have been looking at using pitch detection though im not sure if that is be the best approach any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
i am studying graphic design and this may be part of my final exhibition depending on if i pull it off, i am rather new to max so if anyone can help please do also if anyone is in Auckland, New Zealand and is a max expert i would love to get in contact.
cheers guys
hi,
I'm about to create a module in the next months to detect audio transitions or audio transients... so i've made some max objects research to do that. You could start by studying the zerox~ , edge~ and change~ that should put you in the way.
hope that helps

Have a look at the [bonk~] external which does attack detection, you can use it with filters to search specific frequency ranges which is good for percussion detection. You can also train it to recognise certain sounds. Use maxobjects to search for it.
