soundcard issues
Hi there, I am using a USBPre 2 soundcard from Sound Devices. The problem I am having is that on a few occasions the card has suddenly stopped completely outputting sound, usually after some 40-80 minutes of use. When it happens max continues to send audio to the driver, according to the patch' meters. Stopping / starting dsp makes no difference, but interestingly I cannot switch to the built-in soundcard when this happens. I need to re-load max to get audio back. Otherwise, it is a great-sounding device, and I am keen to know if anyone else may be using it and/or otherwise might have an idea of what is happening.
Soundcard is set to 44.1kHz / 16bit. I take care to close all applications before I plug the card in. It uses the core audio driver, USB connector is 3.0
MacBook Pro, Intel Core i7, 2,3 GHz, 16 GB ram, OS 10.9.2, max 6.1.6

…none?
did you ask for help from your soundcard makers ?
Yes, I have contacted Sound Devices support. They did not test specifically w. max. They got the specs of my machine and set-up etc. I can do with regarding the card is set the bit depth from Macs audio setup, as s/r is controlled from max' audio status window. They got this info about a week ago, but so far no response, which is why I am asking here…
What puzzles me is that the soundcard sits on the core audio driver which has never given me any problems when using the built-in soundcard. So I might tend to think that it is a soundcard issue, but on the other hand, I have never had the audio cut out when using other dedicated audio software (ableton, audacity, vox).
The soundcard does not give any error message on (leds) - it just dies.
