Soundflower latency increases over time...

Hi list,

I use soundflower to communicate between Logic and Max. 8 channels of the 16 ch driver go from Max into Logic, Logic ouputs on channel 9-10, which are routed to an M-audio Firewire 410 outs 1-2. The buffer size is set to 64 samples. Initially there is no hearable latency, everything works great.

BUT.. the latency increases over time. After an hour there is a latency of approximately 100 ms. After 5 hours the latency is approximately 500 ms. When I set the buffersize to 64 again in soundflowerbed, the latency disappears. This is reproducable.

Has anyone had this problem? Did someone find a workaround?

I'm on G5 Quad ppc, mac os 10.4.8, max 4.5.7.

Thanks,
Mattijs

I'm experiencing what I think is a similar problem. I'm using Soundflower to route stereo audio from iTunes or DVD Player into Ableton Live. I usually start out with a 128-sample buffer size setting in Live. After a few minutes the sound begins to get noisy and the only thing that seems to help is to increase the buffer size setting (and thus the latency) in Live. This happens repeatedly every few minutes until the buffer size is maxed out.

I also tried increasing the buffer size setting in Soundflowerbed, but that doesn't seem to help.

I'm using a 1.5 Powerbook G4, OS X 10.4.8.

Hi, I stopped using soundflowerbed (it seems definitly buggy and judging by the silence from the side of cycling 74 they don't support it any more). I now use the Mac OS' aggregate device without problems. Have a look at this thread for more info:
