sprintf with comma

so, my dilemma is that I need a sprintf output with a comma separator.

So far I can have the comma, but it adds a space between the symbols.
I am trying to use this with a gps to create a kml file. Its pretty important this this changes.

any suggestions?

sprintf %s\,%s

I remember using [sprintf ,] before but... I'm getting weird symbols now. I never remember using 3 forward slashes. Am I crazy?
