what is the trick to store a path in the [preset] object ?
thx.

i think there is only one solution.
coll, text, v, pv, zl all do not work.
but what works for saving and recalling symbols from [preset] is:
*drrrrrrumrolllllll* ...
[textedit] !!!
-110
.
yep. thx.

As always there is more than one solution in Max. But no drumroll would prevent me from using a pattr.
Its made exactly for that, it can store anything and has a natural connection to pattrstorage which has a natural connection to the preset object...

the [umenu] works too, just populate it with the file paths you want, then the [preset] grabs whichever index. probably put a [tosymbol] after it to deal with spaces. So the [preset] doesn't store the symbol, it just references one of the list... the [umenu] does the storing.
I was messing around with the "pattr stores symbol" checkbox in the umenu Inspector, and had a little pattrstorage going with it, but it didn't work the way I thought... I figured it could remember various lists of paths (or whatever other symbols) in each preset/slot. I guess [textedit] is needed for having multiple lines remembered at once.
you know,
[textedit] !!
