Submitting Max standalone to Apple App Store.
I've made a few applications out of Max standalones that have done pretty well the past few years, and now, as Apple wants all applications sold through the App Store, I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts about submitting a standalone to the App Store. Is it legal to charge for it? (I wouldn't charge anything except that Apple requires a 99$ fee to join the store - I may still make them free anyway) Does Apple allow for software created through other IDEs than their own? Any experience appreciated.
Best,
James
Thanks, Dan, very informative. I'm very close to taking the plunge with the 99$, so to speak, and trying it out. I only have a problem with files being put in the trash when my standalone launches. There is a file titled oobo in a MaxMSP-mxt Folder, and then a bunch of mxo files in a appRuntime-mxt folder. All of this is contained in a REcovered Files folder that appears in the trash at consequent login after running the app. I'd love to know how to fix this.
If you do take the plunge, please report back. In particular I'm interested in knowing how Max apps will deal with the copy protection aspects....
