Symbolic Composer
Hello
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of working with the software 'Symbolic Composer'. I wish to work with computer algorithms to help me create notation based music that I can then play around with. It seems that SCOM allows users to do this fairly easily by taking an algorithm and then producing a midi file. Where as in Max I would have to learn a lot of additional things to get even close and I still may not be able to do it. Has anyone out there done anything similar? Does anybody know anything about Hanspeter Kyburz and how he composes using algorithms..??

I'm also looking for a fast and simple solution to make a communication between a Lisp environment and Max. Symbolic Composer seems to do that, and for a student it is not so expensive (30% discount, that means it costs around 220 euros).
However, other solutions seem to be not possible on Windows XP: Brad Garton's MaxLisp works only for Mac, and its Anthony Palomba's Windows porting is not ready jet.
I don't know, but I'm looking for it, if would be possible to send a Midi or a OpenSoundControl messages from a Lisp environment such as CLisp or something else...

I was trying to use this library, when I noticed this sentence on the file called "osc.lisp":
"dependent on sbcl , cmucl or openmcl for float encoding, other suggestions welcome".
I checked on home pages of these projects, that are:
sbcl.sourceforge.net
www.cons.org/cmucl
openmcl.clozure.com
and there is no ports for Windows!
So, I guess I can't use this library in Windows...isn't it?
So, I'm still looking for a solution to send OSC or Midi messages from Lisp... or an other method to make a commucation between Lisp and Max.
