Syphon - game changing visual tool for jitter/quartz composer
Still in private beta, but I was passed a version and it's amazing just from hooking it into jitter and seeing it work. I work heavily with quartz composer too..so being able to combine the two has been something I've been looking forward to for years...and bringing it into vmdx and such opens up a ridiculous amount of possibilities. Passed a 720p quartz composition to jitter at 60fps..amazing..thanks vade!
Thanks, we are definitely excited about the possibilities. So someone leaked it to you *already*? Holy shit. Thats kind of awesome. Ha. At least it works.
My dreams of Videoflower are coming to life?
Fantastic work vade! Now I know what you were hinting at on the Kineme forums when I was trying to get QC and Jitter to play nice.
Seeing as I haven't even had a chance to try it out yet, this is probably getting ahead of myself, but is there any view to making this a networkable technology? The first thing I thought of when seeing the videos on CDM was a massive visual jam ring. Kinda like a hippy festival, but without the hand drums.
Hah..don't worry vade, Kyle Mcdonald had been talking to me about it and knew I would be interested...I just wasn't in contact with you enough to be in the loop for the beta..I'm also not a programming ninja so there's not a lot I could help out with beta-wise anyway..needless to say..when he told me about it a while ago I couldn't wait to try it..i'm not going to be passing it around to anyone else
@kodama: this kind of system seems to rely on how the gpu processes images and that is why it ends up being so incredibly fast..the pipeline involved in actual networking would slow it down considerably unfortunately..but I could see that being one of those dreams that comes true in another 5 or 10 years..maybe some sort of cloud GPU that we all hook into..i would be pretty interested in a visual 'drum circle'
Well, if you wanted to send things over a network now, you ought to be able to. jit.gl.syphonclient -> texture download to matrix -> jit.broadcast or jit.net.send and the like.
Will this be optimal? Probably very much not.
This is awesome - thanks so much for developing this!
