Tascam US-144 ?

Does anybody here have experience with the Tascam US-144 interface with
MaxMSP on Mac? I am curious to hear about quality and reliability.

I am planning a 4 channel installation and will make a collective for
MaxMSP Runtime. I am thinking about using a Mac Mini and the Tascam
US-144 sound interface.

Also the installation is supposed to run at different hours 6 days a
week. Any tips on the most reliable ways to automatically put the
computer to sleep and wake up, or turn the computer on and off, for
different hours on specific weekdays are welcome.

Why bother - why not just keep it running all the time, and mute it
when it's not supposed to make any sound?

I have one and I'm satisfied with it. It's been durable and reliable. I find it to be slightly on the quiet side, and you may need a little more preamp, depending on how you use it, but it's within my tolerances.
