I had to go double-check: Not only are the rounded corners gone, the object boxes have the line on the top and bottom, just like in max4, too!

Sort of reminds me of how Apple dropped labels in OS X Cheetah ("you don't need them") only to announce in Panther a "great new feature" called labels.
Now if Cycling '74 would reinstate support of Mac OS Aliases. But that's probably too much to hope for.
